About
I've been making syrups and teaching cocktails for ten years.
I started Pratt Standard Cocktail Co. in Washington, DC, with a tonic syrup that took 47 tries to get right. It grew into a line of craft cocktail syrups based on old pre-Prohibition recipes, sold in Whole Foods across the Mid-Atlantic, in shops and distilleries in more than 35 states, and poured at Nationals Park, Capital One Arena and Merriweather Post Pavilion.
Classes were always my favorite part. I taught more than 20,000 home bartenders and over 1,000 working bartenders, for groups from friends and neighbors to Deloitte and the Kennedy Center, and designed bar programs for about 25 restaurants and venues.
Pratt Standard closed in 2025. The recipes didn't have to. These books take what we made in 100-bottle batches and what I taught in classes and put it in a form you can use at home or behind your own bar.
These days I also run Pratt Advisory, where I help food and beverage businesses with operations and AI.
